The music of Jan Dismas Zelenka, one of the most fascinating and significant figures of the baroque, is undergoing a revival. Fiori Musicali have been active in bringing this rather eccentric Bohemian Catholic composer to wider attention. Now they present the first UK recording of Zelenka's Requiem in C minor, a tour de force for choir, soloists, strings and sagbutts, and still the subject of debate about its attribution. Also on this disc is one of the penitential Lamentations of Jeremiah, sung here by James Bowman, and the Miserere in C minor, another choral masterpiece.
