200th anniversary recording of Haydn’s Nelson Mass. The news of Nelson’s great victory over Napoleon’s fleet at the Nile reached Haydn in Vienna in 1798. The same year saw the publication of the first every symphonies in Russia, the work of the Bohemian composer at Catherine the Great’s court M. Le Baron de Wanczura. This recording is dedicated to the memory of Diana, Princess of Wales. It was made on the day of her funeral 6 September 1997 in Fotheringhay Church, Northamptonshire.
