Singing Week, 6-12 August 2011
A week with Fiori in historic Budapest
Come with Fiori Musicali to Budapest – one of the most beautiful capitals in Europe! – and discover more about baroque and renaissance choral singing and vocal chamber music. This year's summer Singing Week Abroad takes place in the tranquil surroundings of a baroque monastery, the Seminarium Centrale (not normally open to the public) – right in the historic heart of Budapest, just a short walk from the river Danube.
Fiori's director Penelope Rapson inspires choristers in a week of a cappella renaissance and baroque music, culminating in a final concert at the adjacent baroque church. And, as part of the package, there will be opportunities for vocal consort work where individuals and small groups can work with singers and instrumentalists active in the Hungarian baroque music scene.
We have places for up to 25-30 singers. Significant (non-singing) others are welcome too – and everyone can take part in additional activities (eg painting, drawing, plus 'insider' sightseeing in the company of our local Hungarian friends). There is also an optional one-day extension to include a visit to Eszterháza and see where Haydn spent much of his life.
