Monteverdi Vespers

In the early 17th century many fine musicians were drawn to the splendid Saint Mark's basilica in Venice, amongst them Monteverdi – one of the greatest composers of his age.

The brass and strings of Fiori Musicali join forces with the boys of All Saints', Northampton and the Fiori Musicali Choir to bring alive Monteverdi's magnificent masterpiece – the Marian Vespers of 1610 – one of the musical pinnacles of the Italian baroque.

Presented in conjunction with the Northampton Museum and Art Gallery's summer-long Venezia! festival – a celebration of the cultural and historical highlights of magical Venice – and through the generous financial support of members of Fiori's new Silver Jubilee Club.

The very first public opera house opened in Venice in 1637. Ever since, musicians have flocked to the city to write for the greatest singers of the day. Popular soprano Grace Davidson sings enchanting operatic arias and cantatas written by some of the many composers who visited this magical city.

Pamela Thorby – bewitching recorder player and featured artist on the million-selling Adiemus albums – joins Fiori for a dazzling display of baroque chamber concertos. A sparkling evening of music for recorder, oboe, bassoon, violin and continuo by Antonio Vivaldi. – Venice 's most famous musical son.

England's Baroque

Choir, soloists, trumpets, oboes and strings in a grand feast of music from the English baroque, including Handel's recently rediscovered Gloria sung by soprano Grace Davidson, and one of the splendid coronation anthems Handel wrote for George II.

40-part Motet

Glorious renaissance music by Tallis and Tye – some of the great musical luminaries of the 16th century.

Tallis' remarkable motet in 40 parts (for eight five-part choirs) is the crowning glory of this year's Wolfhampcote concert.

The isolated medieval church – virtually all that remains of this deserted village – is the atmospheric backdrop for this evocative music, performed by candlelight.

The Grand Tour

Batoni's fine painting in the Great Hall at Boughton, depicting the Marquis of Monthermer on his Italian tour holding a score of Corelli's opus 5 violin sonatas, inspires a programme of brilliant 17th-century Venetian music for violin, cornetto, lute, organ and countertenor.

Performing at Boughton House – one of Northamptonshire's most palatial country houses – and in the delightful rural setting at Eydon, Fiori present music that 17th-century grand tourists to Venice might have heard in the palaces of La Serenissima.

Internationally distinguished singer James Bowman, who has starred in many of the world's great opera houses, heads an illustrious cast of musicians.

A galaxy of famous composers were active in Venice in the mid 18th century.

Pamela Thorby (virtuoso recorder player) and Pauline Nobes (who regularly leads the Academy of Ancient Music) bring alive the music of this colourful period.

and the hidden Norman jewel of St Peter's in Northampton 's Marefair, with its stunning interior.

A Vivaldi extravaganza. The celebrated Four Seasons concertos stand alongside virtuoso operatic music for soprano and strings by Venice 's best known composer.

Fiori Musicali perform this popular programme twice – in the handsome 14th-century church in Loughborough, and in the fine estate church of St Mary Magdalene, nestling in the grounds of Castle Ashby House – perfect venues for Fiori's traditional high summer concert.

Venezia! Grand Finale

The glories of Venetian baroque music spread right across Europe – even the great JS Bach in Saxony fell under the spell, penning his famous Brandenburg Concertos after the style of the ever-popular Vivaldi.

Enjoy a spectacular feast of baroque concertos in the historic church at Fotheringhay, where the orchestra are joined once again by the inimitable James Bowman.

Trumpet Splendour

Returning by popular demand to this year's St Loup de Naud Festival near Paris, Fiori present JS Bach's jubilant cantata for soprano, trumpet and strings Jauchzet Gott with young soprano Grace Davidson.

This festive programme of cantatas and concertos including Bach's famous Brandenburg Concerto no.2 can also be heard in the fine Norman church in Melbourne, south Derbyshire, as part of the festival there.

Joining Fiori Musicali is illustrious countertenor James Bowman – a living legend – whose distinguished career has taken him to many of the world's great opera houses.
