Singing Week, 17-23 August 2012
James Bowman joins Fiori in Prague
An opportunity to come and sing with Fiori Musicali in Prague – one of the most beautiful capitals in Central Europe!
For this year's Singing Week Abroad we have with us the incomparable James Bowman as guest coach and mentor. This is your chance to discover more about baroque and renaissance choral singing and vocal chamber music in the company of one of the world's great singers, whilst savouring the delights of this historic city
James Bowman alongside Fiori's director baroque specialist Penelope Rapson will be inspiring choristers in a week of a cappella renaissance and baroque music. There will be an opening concert with James Bowman, lutenist Rudolf Merinski, and small choir in the Church of St Simon & St Jude, whose wonderful acoustics make it a popular place for concerts; the grand finale performance for full choir will also be there.

In between, the choir will be working, amongst other things, on a beautifull mass by the 'Bohemian Palestrina' Jan Trojan Turnovský, his Missa super Jerusalem cito veniet, which Fiori Musicali were the first to bring to the attention of UK audiences.
And, as part of the package, there will be opportunities for vocal consort work where individuals and small groups can work with James and with Penelope.
We have places for up to 25-30 singers. The week is appropriate for experienced choral singers with excellent sight-reading – as well as those able to do their own prior preparation (all music is provided and will be sent in advance if requested).
Significant (non-singing) others are welcome too – and everyone can take part in additional activities (eg painting, drawing, exploring the historic heart of Prague, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and sightseeing further afield).
